MADRID-SALAMANCA
Madrid-Barajas international airport is the fourth in Europe in numbers of flights and passengers. There is a direct bus facility from the Madrid-Barajas airport (terminal 1 and 4) to Salamanca (www.avanzabus.com) that includes free Wi-Fi service. The ticket can also be bought in this web site. The estimated travel time is 2h30’.
A high-speed train (up to 240 km/h) connects Madrid and Salamanca in 1h36’. This train departs from Chamartín train station. Tickets can be bought in this website: http://www.renfe.com.
For moving between Madrid airport and Chamartín station you can take the RENFE Cercanías C1 train. The train station is on the terminal T4 floor -1, and is called Aeropuerto T4.
If you arrive to Madrid Airport Terminal T1, T2 or T3 you will need to take a free shuttle bus to take you to Terminal T4. Its frequency is every 5 minutes, and these are the stops between T1 to T4:
- Terminal T1 floor 0 Departures.
- Terminal T2 floor 2 Departures.
- No stop at terminal T3
- Terminal T4 floor 2 Departures.
You can get your train ticket at either the Self-Service Machines or the Cercanías/Rodalíes Ticket Offices. Remember the train is C1 from Aeropuerto T4 to Chamartín. The Cercanías ticket to or from the airport is free for travellers with an AVE or Long Distance ticket.
How to obtain the free associated tickets
At either the Self-Service Machines or the Cercanías/Rodalíes Ticket Offices, the barcode must be scanned or the 5-digit passcode shown on the AVE or Larga Distancia (Long Distance) ticket entered in order to obtain the associated ticket.
You can find your code at the top of your train ticket with the name: “CombinadoCercanias”.
- The first train to Madrid (Chamartín) leaves at 5:56 hours, and the last at 0:20 hours. Frequency: Every 15-20 minutes.
Estimated travel time: Chamartín - Aeropuerto T4 => 11 minutes.
Moreover, Salamanca has a regular bus service (every 30 minutes) from Estación Sur (www.avanzabus.com) and train services available (5 to 8 trains per day) to and from Madrid Príncipe Pío station (http://www.renfe.com). There is also a motorway between Madrid and Salamanca. This journey takes about 2 hours.
VALLADOLID - SALAMANCA
Salamanca is 115 Km southeast of Valladolid and there is a bus service from the Villanubla airport to the city centre. More info: http://www.linecar.es/pdf/Horarios%20Aeropuerto%20Villanubla.pdf
Regular bus (www.avanzabus.com) and train services (http://www.renfe.com) are available from Valladolid (city centre) to Salamanca. The journey (via motorway) between Valladolid and Salamanca takes 1.05 hours.
OTHER CONNECTIONS
Salamanca is connected to Portugal, Valladolid and Madrid via motorway. It is connected via motorway to the south of Spain (i.e. Sevilla) and the north (i.e. León, Gijón and Oviedo). There are also regular direct trains between Salamanca and the major cities of Portugal, such us Lisbon or Porto, and we are also well connected with several French Cities.
